Mindi offers private art lessons for young people and adults ages 13 and up. Lessons start at $25 per hour, not including materials. There is no set number of classes for any given subject. Instruction is tailored to meet the individual’s needs at a pace that is comfortable for the student.
Beginning to Advanced Drawing
Beginning Students: study basic perspective and learn how to “see” visual stimuli in order to create accurate renderings of objects, people, landscapes, etc.
Advanced Students: experiment with a variety of dry media and continue to improve drawing skills, with an emphasis on concept, composition and creative use of media
Beginning to Advanced Watercolor Painting
Beginning Students: learn the properties of watercolor and how to use them to create realistic imagery
Advanced Students: concentrate on gaining more control over the medium, with an emphasis on concept, composition and creative use of media
Beginning to Advanced Acrylic Painting
Beginning Students: learn the properties of acrylic paint and how to use it to create realistic imagery
Advanced Students: concentrate on gaining more control over the medium, with an emphasis on concept, composition and creative use of media
2D Design & Composition
Beginning Students: study the five basic elements of design, as well as the many different principles and strategies used to create solid, dynamic compositions
Advanced Students: continue with the study of compositional design for more Advanced systems, including commercial applications and the Internet
Mixed Media Painting
For Advanced Students only: learn how to create mixed media paintings and drawings using dry media, wet media, collage, found objects, etc. This class also covers non-representational compositional elements and abstraction, as well as experimentation with a variety of different substrates.
Creative Process/Concept Development
For Advanced Students only: study Mindi’s favorite subject – the Visual Language. Learn how to create powerful imagery by using symbolism, association and culturally relevant visual cues
Professional Development (Fine Art and Commercial Art)
For Advanced Students only: learn how to write an effective resume, cover letter, curriculum vitae, marketing campaign, etc. Other subjects covered include presentation, photo documentation of your work, website advice, matting and framing, how to approach galleries and art dealers, how to apply for freelance or full time employment in the commercial art field, and more
